A Window into Functional Rehabilitation

The Prometheus Group now offers you a choice of systems specifically tailored to your hospital, long term care facility, clinic and home training needs. Whether the patient is cognitively impaired or not, there is little sensory awareness of function, making muscle rehabilitation a challenge.

The Pathway™ Series of systems meets that challenge by translating one aspect of the patient's function into easy to understand real-time visual and audio signals. This allows you to more effectively provide instruction for alternation of muscle patterns and behavior.

Utilize the Pathway™ Series to:

• Relax the musculature. Teach the patient to minimize surface EMG activity at rest to allow for greater muscle recruitment during functional activity. Use as well to heighten awareness of the contraction pattern.
  
• Re-educate the muscle with "effortful" exercises. These exercises can be graphically illustrated to the patient, enhancing learning. Cue the patient to produce peak surface EMG contractions of short duration. Progressively increase amplitude goals and provide work/rest intervals for advanced patients.
  
• Teach the patient to both increase and maintain muscle contraction. The patient is prompted to not only produce peak surface EMG contractions but also to maintain the peak, resulting in a "box-like" graphic display. Teach prolonged peak maintenance and integrate work/rest cycles as the patient demonstrates competence. Progress the patient by increasing the work duration.
